As the grizzly bear cub takes its first steps up the steep, snowy slopes, it makes light of the snow and life in general. Its mother, just awakened from hibernation, because she is so big, has trouble climbing up and down the slopes. The mountains are like a nursery to the newly born cubs, away from their father (2 times the size of their mother) who would eat them if he ever got a chance. The mother's milk running dry, and the mother herself is hungry too, so the family must, sticking together, leave the safe mountain slopes and go out in search of food.
The mother and its cubs are turning rocks over, looking in every nook and cranny, for moths. Moths may seem like a tiny meal for huge grizzly bears, but their bodies actually have a lot of fat, which will be needed to store up fat for the next hibernation.
The mother must teach her cubs survival skills, before she dies. After the cubs know how to survive on their own, the mother dies. Then, the cubs follow their mother's footsteps, and begin life on their own.
After they mate, they go into hibernation. And such is the circle of life!
