The Belly Slide!

It is a brutal, cold winter in the Antarctic. A male emperor penguin keeps his egg warm by balancing it on on their feet and covering it with feathered skin, called a brood pouch, while the females go together to the waters in search of food. He huddles with the other male emperor penguins as they protect their eggs alongside him. If the egg ever touches the ice, the chick inside of it will die, which is why the male emperor penguins have such an important job.

2 Months Later...

The egg is breaking. A little penguin pokes its head out into the real world for the first time. The emperor penguin looks down lovingly at its baby. When the mother comes back she brings a belly-full of food, which she regurgitates for her baby.

Now the baby is a fun-loving child, who belly-slides all day long! In fact, this particular baby is the emperor penguin children's trend setter! He made up several different ways to belly-slide! The Swirl, The Loop-D-Loop, and even The Fish-Hooker, where he combines The Flatterer and The Water Hose and plunges into the water, coming up with at least three fish caught in his mouth! Everybody knew that he was special, but who would have thought that the magnificent Fish-Hooker would have brought about his death?

The child has grown, but is not yet an adult. He still loves to belly-slide, and the penguins still love him! He became famed with a nickname - Slider Sammy! Every Emperor Penguin came to watch him slide! One performance changed it all.

He was about to do The Fish-Hooker! The audience oohhhed and aahhhed as he slid down the ice. They cheered as he plunged into the water, and they waited for him to come out with fish. As they waited and waited, they saw a leopard seal leap out of the water. He couldn't be dead, they thought, could he?

He had, in fact died, but at least he had died doing what he loved - Belly Sliding!
